From Givenchy to Jimmy Choo, fashion and romance seem to go hand-in-hand. Can you even imagine Audrey Hepburn without her signature black dress or Carrie Bradshaw without her Blahniks and her designer bags? We know that “clothes make the man,” do clothes make the woman, too? This week April tries different styles to see if her wardrobe will affect the attention she gets from nearby gentlemen. On day 13, April plays a damsel in distress wearing her usual clothes. Will there be romance in real life for a normal girl?

Poor Average April dragging her suitcase up a flight of stairs… She’s got on her Ugg-ish footwear, her cute pink hoody, and her jeans, but she gets little attention and absolutely no help. After some quickly dismissive glances, everyone went right up the stairs simply ignoring our heroine!

Still, the experiment wasn’t a total loss. Although you don’t see it in the video, our second stunt—a damsel who drops and scatters her papers everywhere—did deliver… sort of. A young woman helped her pick up her papers. But, alas! No gentlemen had a care for normal, everyday, Average April.

Lessons in love and life: Sad to say… but it looks like when you dress for comfort, you’re sunk. Dressing for yourself puts you by yourself–especially if you’re hoping for a willing champion.
